Pain in my Left Boob

I'm not sure if providing the position of said breast is relevant, but it's done now!

For a while now I have had a "take your breath away" type of pain in my boob if I do certain things. For instance, reaching to change the position of the shower head; pressing against the car seat when putting DS in the car.

I have seen the GP who assured me that I have a matching pair and not to worry.

Today though, DD(4) pushed against me with her elbow to pull herself off the settee where she was sitting with me, and the pain was excruciating.

DH reckons this is what has caused the problem in the first place as DD does this regularly. Obviously we have told her that this must stop, but do any of you think I should go back to GP or leave it and hope that my boob gets better?

I think that (as with any other excrutiating pains) if it bothers you then you should go back to your GP.

I was like you a six months or so back. I would get bad shooting pains in my left breast. I would also get bad pains that were triggered by contact. I was concerned but left it and didn't talk to my GP about it. I no longer have the pain at all.

I'm not saying I did the right thing by leaving it, but at the time it didn't bother me too much.

Probably nothing, but always worth getting checked again if you are worrying....

How old are you? If you're anywhere near menopause i think it can be caused by hormonal changes, called mastalgia, or something. I have had that sort of thing for a while now and nothing showed up on a mammogram which i had six months ago, just routine, my doc reckons you should have one yearly after 45. find out more cos there's nothing worse than a LITTLE bit of knowledge!

momp, have you had a cold or been run down? I have pleurisy at the moment from a chest infection and the infection spread to the muscle around the lung. It started as a pain in my left boob, became severe until eventually my gp sent me for xray and blood tests. It really hurt alot until i couldnt turn the steering wheel or change gear with my left arm.

PS i am normally healthy fit and active with ds (2) who gave me the very same kind of pain if he leant on my chest or i had to pick him up.

have been prescribed strong painkillers and anti-inflammatories which help alot, but its still very sore, sometimes worse than others. does this sound familiar?
