Thyroid blood test results

I've thought for several years I might have thyroid problems, but nothing ever seems to come up when I've been sent for tests. Out of frustration, I used Medicheck last week. I wondered if anyone could help me interpret my results?

They were:

TSH 5.18
Free Thyroxine 15.95
Total Thyroxine (T4) 152.7
Free T3 4.87
Thyroglogulin Antibody 448.500
Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies 16.27
Vitamin B12 157

Additionally, I take metformin for PCOS. I've been anemic for 20 years and taken iron tablets daily, and for the last year or so to combat tiredness I've been using high-strength B12 patches. My Vitamin D I had done last month, and is around 70 so fine.

With those antibodies you have hashimotos autoimmune disorder and your TSH is over range and struggling. Anything over 2.5 is high. You should start thyroxine. You need your ferritin checked and your B12 is deficient enough to warrant testing for pernacious anemia. Check the healthunlocked website for thyroid an pernacious anemia. Has your gp suggested B12 injections? Do you have tingling or numbness that's a symptom.

Looks like you have Hashimotos ( I do) ask your go for a referral to an endocrinologist, they will probably check for other autoimmune diseases. Once you've been on thyroxine for a while and got your ferritin and b12 levels up you will soon feel better.

It's always useful to have the reference ranges as well as the results, so we can see where in the range your results fall, but that looks like as clear an example of Hashimoto's Disease (autoimmune thyroiditis) as you are likely to see.

However, there's clearly an issue with your B12 as well. At that level you should surely be having injections, not relying on a self-prescribed patch. Ah, now I see @keeponmoving has already flagged the B12.
