Possibly far far TMI, but has anyone ever has an allergic reaction to (oooh I hate the word) spermicide, and is there more than one kind?

no advice for you, other that to tell you that I am allergic to condoms, so I do know exactly how you feel, and am sitting here feeling all uncomfortable on your behalf.

I can't even think how long it lasted for. It think it was about a day before it started to get better (sorry) and for a while I still had 'twinges' But it teaches you DAMN FAST not to do it again!

not the sex, that was ok, the contraception, I meant!

Oh, I think I've had this. I had a real struggle finding a spermicide that worked for me, and then they kept changing which ones were available. I'd have a chat with the pharmacist.

I'm assuming the reaction can't be to the latex in the diaphragm?

I would do a patch test, come to think of it, just to isolate the fact it was the spermicide? Small bit on the labia sort of thing? If you could face it?

(I've had some small reaction to sperm, sometimes, too. It's tricky, it's such a delicate part of the anatomy ...)

yes, I have this reaction to spermicide. I don't know what brands there are in this country because the last time I used it, I was living abroad and unfortunately, never found one that didn't irritate me to some degree (but this was some time ago and maybe, spermicides are better now!).

I feel immensely sorry for you - it is a nightmare getting a reaction in that region! If it is still irritated, it may be worth taking an antihistamine.
