Been suffering from this for about 6 months. Any tips to get rid of it please?

Yes. Antibiotics.

I suffered for years before getting the correct diagnosis.

If I get an outbreak (seems to occur every couple of years or so) I need to take Lymecycline (Tetralysal)for 3 months. After the first week it begins ns to heal but have been instructed to complete the course.

Don't use steroid creams. GP often prescribe these but will make it worse.

Try Fucidin antibiotic cream. No steroid. Use SLS free toothpaste.

metronidazole gel (Rozex) worked for me. And I switched my skin care to sensitive skin products, nothing harsh and irritating. Was struggling with it for more than 15 years but haven't had an outbreak for ages now.

As others said, GPs often don't know this condition and tend to prescribe steroid creams, mine did as well. You should not use them, they will make it worse.
