Hi,

If you join the NHS Minor Ailments Scheme you can visit the pharmacist who can prescribe certain medication for your child for free. This includes Calpol and lotions for headline amongst others.

Not this old one again. No wonder the NHS is on its knees.

People can most definitely buy it themselves, but if it saves an GP's appointment just to get a prescription for antihistamines or painkillers for a sick child then it is worth letting people know.

It is good for those people who really cannot afford to buy stuff but those who can afford to pay really should in my opinion. In our area, the scheme has been cut back dramatically in order to get some control over the costs. I know there are some people who see free medicines for children as an entitlement but we all have to be aware of the funding constraints.

I'd be surprised if you can get headlice lotions as they are no longer recommended. Our area offers a comb and advises wet combing
