Help ! dd - possible rubella? pregnant friends

Hi,

My 3 yr old DD has been to the Drs today as she has a rash on her body and had a high temp a few days ago.

The GP said it looked a bit like rubella but as she has had the MMR it was unlikely to be the full strain and could just be a virus.

Last week I saw a friend who is 10 weeks pregnant and another who is 24 weeks pregnant.

I have called both and left messages for them to call me back/ How worried should I be that their babies could be at risk.

I feel sick.

I think the one who is 24 weeks pregnant probably has least to worry about. They both may need blood tests to check for different kinds of antibodies (to show up past/recent/current infections), so should contact their midwives ASAP. This site has some useful, detailed information, too.

Hopefully your pregnant friends have both been immunised.

The one who is 24 weeks just checked her maternity notes and it says she is immune

The one who is 10 weeks was immune 3.5 years ago when pregant with her first DD. Does immunity stay with you for life? She has her booking in appointment on Monday so will get her midwife to give her a blood test.

that's good news - I'd imagine the other friend is also still immune
