Had a smear on Monday evening but I'm still very sore and crampy now. Is that par for the course?

Don't know foxinsocks... I've experienced crampy feelings for the rest of the day after a smear, but never longer than that and no bleeding. Why don't you call the surgery and have a chat with the nurse

thanks tatties

I'm sure I won't be able to speak to a nurse (they have that system where you phone for appointments in the morning so it's murder!) - they'll probably tell me to come down but I'd rather not have anyone else poking around while it's sore!

yes I was Fio. I was wondering whether it was because of that.

She was very good (the nurse that did this one) but when she took the sample, I felt a really sharp scratch (sharper than normal) and she did say she could see some blood so maybe this is as a result of that .

ggrrr at smears (I know, I know why we have to have them but still grrrrr)

I too had a smear this week, and also found it painful and bled afterwards.. Apparantly I have a low cervix - whatever that means, 'but you would know that already won't you' the doctor told me, ermmm, no, thats the first time it has ever been mentioned. She told me that was why I found it painful and bled. She said it was completely normal, so try not to worry too mucn foxinsocks. Although obviously if its really painful get yourself back to the docs so they can check it out further.
