Anyone had their appendix out recently? DH's is grumbling...

Hi All

DH has had a few days of abdo pains that sound very much like his appendix (he's a paramedic so not just guesswork). If he needs his appendix out, what should we expect re. hospital stay/recovery time? Fingers crossed it's just wind...

Depends on how serious he let's it get. I had mine removed by key hole surgery a number of years ago and the only reason I didn't go home the next day was because I had an adverse reaction to the anaesthetic. Recovery was quick too.

Someone I know had theirs out last year , home the next day and back to office job in 2 weeks .

Had mine out in October. Surgery on the Sunday, home on the Tuesday.

Get it seen to quick and its very fast recovery. Don't let it rupture because then you can almost die and need a month in hospital, like my DC.

I had mine out on a Tuesday, but needed an open appendectomy, home on Thursday. I was in a lot of pain immediately after the surgery but moving around well again by the following week.
I'm a SAHM but could probably have gone back to work after about 10 days as long as it wasn't something too physical!
