Hi, I have always had less than great skin. Not terrible (apart from a couple of years in my teens) but I always have the odd spot. Recently though I have started to get bad skin around my jawline but mostly on my neck. Lots of pimples with the odd big horrible sore one. They are making me look awful and leaving red marks that last for weeks. I've tried all sorts of skin treatments. I drink loads of water. I eat healthy 80% of the time. Does anyone have any experience or advice on this? I am 40 - thank you

You need to see your GP and ask for a referral to a dermatologist. In your 40s it's likely to be hormonal and you would need prescribed medication - maybe antibiotics or something more heavy duty like Roaccutane.

I would also have a blood test done to see if polycystic ovaries are the root cause of the acne. I mention this because PCO is often the cause in such matters. Determine the cause as well as treat the symptoms.
