Rapidly multiplying verrucas - pregnant

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and suddenly over the course of the last few weeks I've started noticing what I think are tiny verrucas, and they seem to be spreading really rapidly! I first noticed one on the underside of a toe about 3 weeks ago, but now there are at least 2 more on that foot, 3 on the other foot and I even think one's popping up on my finger. I had a bad verruca once as a child but it never multiplied and I haven't had any others since.

Is it worth going to the GP for this? They're only tiny at the moment and tender rather than super painful, but there seems to be a new one every day at the moment and I'm getting a bit concerned that I'll end up covered! The older ones are starting to grow too. The general advice seems to be just to leave them and eventually the body fights them off, but mine's doing a rubbish job of that at the moment Confused Any advice?

Yes I would go to the GP. Pregnancy does some funny things to your immune system and it's worth getting them checked out. They might be something other than verrucas.

I don't subscribe to that idea about just live with them and the body fights them off BTW. I've always had to treat mine to get rid of them (Bazuka extra strength is my preferred treatment though it takes flipping ages to dry, but as you are pregnant you may prefer to use a freezing spray).

FWIW if the GP confirms they are verrucas and doesn't treat them for you treat the first one or two verrucas only first as you have a lot. There is a theory that the first one is the "mother" of the virus and killing it will kill the rest. Whether there is any truth in that or not, treating the first one seems to work for me.

Cats thank you for the advice. I didn't know that about the "mother" theory. I'm using athletic/duct tape on all of them ATM but no appreciable difference so far.

I got several veruccas which appeared whilst pregnant with my first child. I had them professionally treated at a chiropodist after having my THIRD child over 4 years later! They really stuck around! Nothing sinister about them, other than they came with the first pregnancy & finally disappeared after the third! My midwife recommended tea tree oil as a natural treatment. Didn't help I could really reach my feet to apply it Shock

Definitely go to your GP if they are spreading rapidly you may need specialist assessment.

Thank you everyone. I feel silly going to the drs for a verruca but I'll make an appointment tomorrow.

Major that sounds grim, hope these don't hang around that long! Glad you're shot of them now.
