Urethral opening has moved. What is this??

As title says, my urethral opening seems to have moved further down and is sort of sitting above the opening of my vagina. It definitely used to be further up, closer to my clitoris.

Does anyone know what this is? I didn't know it could move? For added info, I originally checked as I've been having a sharp pain there when sitting. I also can't stop weeing at the moment. Not sure if that could be related. Panicking a little here!

Could you have a UTI? The opening can move a bit if there is a lot of inflammation.

Ooh possibly! Would explain the peeing every 5 minutes. That hadn't even crossed my mind.

Sorry as a nurse I have to ask how do you know your urethral opening has moved? it's a struggle to identify the urethral opening at times.

Because it used to be midway between my clitoris and vagina, further towards the top. It is now sitting just above my vagina. After tearing marvelously during my first birth and the subsequent catheters I became quite aware of where my pee hole was located. It's never been a problem to identify it for me.

Mine has moved lower like that since my forceps birth. I think I have a mild prolapse so I wouldn't be surprised if there was a connection.

To the poster who asked how you even know where it is in the first place: how patronising are you?!

Mine's like that and I have a mild bladder prolapse. I only noticed mine when I had a UTI last year and got a mirror and looked. I was a bIt horrified really at the time Confused.

Hardly think about it now.

Mine is in an even weirder place. I had a prolapse repair incl bladder and my pee hole is now almost in my vagina after everything was hitched up. In other words it's further back rather than up front.

Feel calmer now that I know it has moved in others as well! I didn't even know that was possible.

I was concerned about prolapse, especially with my bladder seemingly becoming weaker and weaker. I wanted to see the gp about having to wee all the time but thought she might laugh me out of the room. But it is getting worse, especially at night when I can be up 10+ times rushing to the loo.

To those who do have a prolapse, is there anything that can be done? I'll admit to being a bit lax with my pelvic floor exercises, could that be part of the problem?

I was thinking more about the UTI possibility but the frequent urination has been ongoing for a long time now. Just seems to have got worse lately, so not sure a UTI would've hung around that long without either resolving itself or causing a lot of pain.

No gp appts this week but will hopefully be able to get one within the next few weeks just to get it checked out.

No gp would laugh you out of the surgery for having to urgently pee TEN TIMES a night. That's an awful lot.

I was just told by a very flippant GP to do pelvic floor exercises. I do have some leakage but use pantyliners most days. Not quite on the Tena just yet! Shock.

To be honest I've been doing the exercises for a few months now and no difference really. I think they only operate in extreme circumstances . I always find gp's I've seen not that helpful when it comes to these kind of issues to be honest. It took me ages just to persuade one of them to examine me Confused.

Ten times a night though op isn't normal, get yourself to the docs.

sounds as if you may have overactive bladder OAB.
There is a lot on the web on this. Treatment is either /both drugs or bladder re-training. Do you go during the day a lot too? Your bladder becomes used to going lots so you need meds to relax the muscles and make it hold more, and / or training yourself gradually to hold on a bit longer each time. But you do also need checking out for a UTI and, tbh , diabetes.

Yes it's even more during the day. Definitely can't hold it like I used to. Means I'm so so tired through the day as well because my sleep is interrupted every night.

I'm only 29!
