Chronic painful muscle tension, any tips anyone?

I am having quite a bad flare-up with my muscle tension . I've suffered with it for years (had ME and fibromyalgia for three years and still have some residual physical symptoms, althouth not on anything like the same scale). My back and shoulders and neck feel as though they are full of broken glass and I have got a bad tension headache which is definitely turning into a migraine. It's making me feel sick.

Anyway I am not new to this, have had it for years and posted about it a few times, but I just wondered whether anyone had any short-term tips for alleviating the pain. There might be things I haven't tried.

If you work at a computer, make sure you're sitting properly (from a H&S point of view) Have you tried pilates - great for shoulder and back flare ups.

If you dont mind popping pills.....

Syndol is BRILLIANT

lol, I recommended Syndol to someone with fibromyalgia the other day

I haven't tried pilates, but I doubt it is really for me, I am too fat and self-conscious to do formal exercise in front of other people.

Sorry I can't help you Greeny, especially after all the help you gave me on my thread the other day.

I find the usual hot baths, hot water bottles, those heat things that you warm up in the microwave all help - only slightly mind.

Also I am going to Docs this week to get a different kind of painkiller as I'm not happy with the co-codamol.

DON@T let that stop you - please don't - it's not worth your discomfort for a couple of stares (imaginary or otherwise!)
