Right had my first period after DD2 was born just before Christmas (when she was about 11 months old), next month had normal period for me then this month I had the period from hell.

Bleeding for 7 days which I have never had in my life before, really heavy and I felt really wiped out. Then this week for the past few days I have had (sorry TMI) really heavy discharge like nothing I have had before today it was a bit red tinged.

Still BFing DD2 (only once a day) DP and I are using condoms so I don't know what it is, I've never had anything like this before?

I think that after having kids your periods can just change because your body is not the same as it was before. I've had the same as you since my ds was born 3.6 years ago - heavier than usual, longer than usual, very painful, and like you I always feel thoroughly wiped out. I also get the mid cycle bleeding or pinkish discharge. Quite often my cycles get shorter too, from 28/29 days to 23/24 days. I've been to my gp before about it and they just tell me to come back if it gets a lot worse . My smear tests always come back normal so there can't be anything serious wrong. Don't worry too much - just think of what your body has been through in the past year or so. It is only natural that some things will change.

thanks for taking the time to answer, the thing is when I had DD1 my periods came back 4 weeks after the post birth bleeding stopped and went straight back to 28 days like clockwork bleeding for about 3-4 days not that bad. Both DDs were exclusively BF although DD2 fed an awful lot more than DD1 hence I didn't have a period for 11 months after she was born.
