Finding a new GP

I have moved away from my old GP practice, who I was with for over 30 years. I have tried finding a new one near me (via NHS website), but either they are not accepting new patients, or I am out of their 'catchment' area.
What's the next steps - it's been a long time since I had to do this!

Phone the health authority. Ask to speak to whoever deals with GPs and then they will allocate you to a list. In Scotland it's called "practitioner services".

Yes our list is closed at the moment but we have had 435 new registrations since last July. (Was looking at the figures today) so although some will be new babies who we have to register if their parents are on the list a lot are allocated and we cannot refuse them. It just controls the list rise.
