Probiotics worth taking after *topical* antibiotics?

Ds (2.8) had first course of antibiotics a fortnight ago, for conjunctivitis. It was a topical cream.

If I had to take antibiotics, I'd take a course of probiotics afterwards. Is this (a) wise for kids, too, and (b) necessary after topical antibiotics as opposed to the ingested sort?

Ds's been such a well, robust little boy, and I don't want to compromise that.

Thanks. EBAB

Why don't you just give him natural yogurt?

I agree, or a yakult drink

Ah, forgot to mention, we don't eat much dairy. Just don't like it - as a family. Only dairy ds will touch is melted cheese on a pizza. A pretty healthy stance to have, I think ... except if you want them to eat live yogurt.

Thanks for suggestion, though.
