DSs (11months) breath stinks... is it a sore throat?

My mum always used to say mine smelt when I had a sore throat... it smells just horrible. He has a really runny nose, and a temperature - what can I do? Should I take him to GP? I am totally useless

I don't think you need the GP, DS' breath used to smell like nail varnish when he was coming down with something.

if he has a temperature and smelly breath he could have tonsilitis. My ds used to get smelly breath with this.

I would take him, to be on the safe side, as tonsilitis can be horrible. How is he in himself?

it's not the acetone smell... it smells umm.... like dog breath. Rotten somewhow. He has smelly acetone breath before, when breastfed.

He is abit grizzly, was sleepy yesterday, even napped on my tummy. I shall ring and talk to GP at least xXx Thanks

hi QP, both my DS's have had this horrible cough/cold thing thats going round and have had smelly breath througout.
DS1 (who's 3.6) is complaining of a sore throat most of the time - so it could be..
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) my nose is so blocked I can't smell their breath anymore

He had the runniest nose last night, was green and dribbling down his chin, poor thing. Took some moppping up! Will report back when I phone GP...

If the mucus is green it could be a secondary infection , such as sinusitis.
Get the doctor to check ears and thraot.

He said if hasn't cleared up by the weekend, take him down there. He said the smelly breath was lack of fliuds and food due to being ill (he hardly ate yesterday). I guess that means see how he is tomorrow then...
