Painful right thumb any ideas please

Hurts at the base and when it bends it hurts and clicks
Googled sounds like trigger finger
Have been resting it
Anyone else had this

It does sound like trigger finger. I have had this, also in thumb.

First try rest and anti inflammatories such as ibuprofen if you can take them, maybe massage your thumb a bit.

As that didn't work for me I had a cortisone injection into the joint by a hand specialist (not sure if Gp can do this). It bloody hurts but works (takes a few days to a couple of weeks to work).

For me it came back after 5 years. Had second cortisone injection which worked but dr has said he wouldn't do it again, as too damaging for the tissue. If it comes back I have to have surgery but it's minor with local anaesthetic.

Just hurts when I bend thumb now otherwise fine
I work on checkouts so use fingers etc
