Anyone else experience this pain (intercourse related)

After sex I get this weird deep pain that makes me tense up (I know it’s coming straight away) that gradually fills the whole of my bum/stomach/pelvic area and becomes excruciating. On a pain scale of 1-10 it begins around 3 and gradually builds up to 9 and lasts for about half an hour. During this time nothing I do can make this pain go away. I’ve tried moving positions, trying to go the toilet, rubbing my stomach, wriggling around but nothing works. After it subsides I’m left feeling like I’ve been kicked hard in the stomach, it’s tender to sit down the next day and I’m massively bloated.

I’ve been admitted to hospital twice because of this problem as they suspected ectopic pregnancies but were both inconclusive and I was sent home. The first time it happened a nurse said what a lovely bump you have! But I wasn’t pregnant and I’m slim normally. The only things they found were small corpus luteum cysts but they were only small and wouldn’t cause this pain. It hurts when they doctors touch my stomach after and internal examinations are uncomfortable.

It only happens after sex! Actual intercourse doesn’t hurt me, I’m lubricated and I’m not with a new partner. Any ideas?

Do you use condoms? Are you on the pill? Does this pain only happen at certain times of the month? Like around ovulation I am thinking?
But I don't know why or how. I would first try to track this happening on a calendar and see if it relates to your cycle somehow.
I used to get ovulation pains when I was a bit older and I would get a similar pain to what you describe that lasted about an hour or two where this pressure and pain built up starting in my side and built up gradually, also made me feel like kind of needing to poo, and would feel like my whole stomach/pelvic area was filled with gas.

Endometriosis?

I've already ovulated this month, it was around 3th Jan. I also thought it could be around my ovulation dates. We aren't using contraception, have no infections/history of things like that.

The last time it happened was October 1st, the time before that was over two years before. It's absolutely excruciating and it's beginning to worry me - why do the tests always come back inconclusive?

sadie what you've described is similar, like I needed to poo but the pain is so bad I can't push (sorry tmi) but it gradually gets worse. Sometimes it lasts 40 mins sometimes 2, 3 or hours.

mrsbeverley I have no other symptoms of it, would this every so often be a symptom? I'm struggling to conceive, that could be the only other option.

If endometriosis is present the tests you've had done to date would not detect it. You should be seeing a gynaecologist for further evaluation and your GP should refer you in any case.

I would also keep a pain/symptom diary if you do not already do this.

Fibroids? I had many including a 6 pounder. I used get this kind of pain

I mentioned Endemetriosis to my DR but she didn't seem to take my thoughts seriously. I don't get pain apart from my periods which are also very painful but I manage them well, and this pain I get occasionally.

Would Fibroids be picked up on an internal vaginal scan and an ultrasound? I've had both but Fibroids weren't mentioned.

I had a scan & ultrasound & was told I had 2 small ones less than the size of 5p. Even an MRI didn't show quite the gargantuan one & his many friends. It was only when I had a hysterectomy that they came to light

I would continue to push for proper answers. You will need to be persistent.

Painful periods, particularly if that is an ongoing issue, is one possible indicator of endometriosis. It is usually diagnosed through a keyhole surgery op called a laparoscopy. Not all GPs are up to speed at all when it comes to gynaecological issues by any means.

None of my main internal ultrasound scans detected my endometriosis.

Is there any specific tests I need to ask for? I'm completely clueless
