Does anyone else get Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, how often do you get it? Do you have the epley manoeuvre to treat it? How many treatments do you require?

I have had it about four times over the last eight years but just had the last episode and it took three manoeuvres and took me over a week to recover, is this due to me getting older?

I suffer from it. For about ten years now but only had two really debilitating episodes in that time.

I've not had a formal diagnosis but I know it's what I've got as it is triggered by head movements.

I tend to manage mine by getting out of bed slowly, never lying completely flat, not looking directly down if I can avoid it. I always carry anti sickness tablets in my handbag/bedside drawer just in case.

I've never tried the Epley manoeuvre.

I've just been diagnosed with this! I was rather hoping after this passes that would be the end of it, I did not know it can keep flaring up .

It hasn't been too bad for me, I also get vertiginous migraines and have had much worse vertigo episodes with those than I am getting at the moment. I'm taking the travel sickness tablets daily at the moment, and if they don't work I should go back for the Epley manoeuvre. I do not current hold out much hope for the tablets.

I first had it about eight years ago, it was quite debilitating and after about eight weeks the GP sent me to the audiology dept at the hospital where it was diagnosed very quickly, they did the epley manoeuvre which worked first time, took about five days to get back to normal!

Since then we have moved house and when I needed treatment again the GP was able to do it (he'd recently been on a course) and showed husband how to do it. My husband fortunately now does the Epley manoeuvre on me when I need it with the Internet acting as a reminder, we are travel a lot and are presently in Columbia so it would be quite complex to get treatment. The internet is a good source of information on both BBPV and Epley.

Sorry Total, it's does seem to reoccur, for me anyway.

I've had a couple of bouts of it, the first one was pretty bad and took 3 weeks to go and only really improved after the Epley. The second one I did the twisting your head and lying to the side exercises and combined with betahistine and buccastem wasn't as bad.

I had horrific labyrinthitis about 16 years ago and needed VRT to properly recover from it as my balance was totally buggered, since then my weak point seems to be my ears but nothing as bad as that first time thank goodness.
