Blepharitis makeup advice

Been suffering with flare ups of Blepharitis for about a year now. Can get it under control with heated pads and regular eye hygiene. But last night (NYE) put just a bit of eye eye liner on, and it has flared up again. Didn't even try mascara, but eyes are red and oozing. Anyone know if there's make up that you can wear that doesn't make it worse? I rarely wear eye make up now because of it, but would like to think I can occasionally wear eye liner and mascara, Any recommendations?

I can't help on the make-up question, but I used Blephasol to clear mine. Bought it in a chemist. Was told to use cotton wool pads to wipe each eye but I kept getting it in my eyes so I use cotton buds now

No advice but I'm empathising and following as I have ocular rosacea and I'm the same - just a tiny bit of eyeshadow or liner and my eyes start streaming. It's really annoying isn't it? I miss eye make up!

Same here. I used to love eye makeup. Can't wear anything now - everything bar a bit of lipstick upsets my rosacea. My eyes started playing up last night & have been driving me mad all day. I think it's because we spent most of the day travelling so had A/C on in the car & I didn't drink as much as usual.

I get blepharitis from time to time, and am addicted to eye make up. When it flares up, I start bathing my eye with diluted Johnsons baby shampoo, think its at a 5:1 ratio. My GP told me this was the best cure, and I swear by it. Use water on the hot side and it's so soothing. As for make up to use, I normally wear whatever takes my fancy, but when in the middle of a flare I can only use Bobbi Brown cream eyeshadow. I apply it with a clean finger and then use a little mascara but no eyeliner for a couple of days. Better than nothing!

I don't have blepharitis but I do have multiple skin allergies and hyper sensitive eyes and I've had good luck with some of these products.

Do not use shampoo of any kind it doesn't clear it, it merely wipes the outer layer your local optometrist is the best person to ask as most Drs will admit to limited training on eyes. Blephersol and eye bags ( remember to clean them) help but this is an on going condition that will never go completely, you can get specialist make for sensitive eyes stocked in some independent opticians which seems to be good but until it is under control no make will be great hth

Also watching for tips. I find the key is as PP have said to try to get it under as control as you can then make up much less likely to irritate. Of course it is easy to write that and often difficult to do :( . No magic tips for make up I'm afraid as I haven't found a 'magic brand'.

I do definitely stay away from waterproof / volumising / fancy mascara though but it sounds as if you are doing that already.
