Hi, my dd is 8 mths old and has had diahhoreah since early saturday morning, I took her to the docs on monday but wasnt concerned and just said to make sure she has plently of fluids. I am worried that she is loosing weight as eating very little and what she does manage is going straight through her!! Any advice on how to stop it please?? Thanks

You just have to ride it out. Lots of clear fluids, dairy may or may not aggravate it, no solids and using probiotic supplements for infants may help limit its duration. When it stops reintroiduce a bland diet (rice ,carrot, chicken, banana, toast) slowly.

my dd once has diarrhoea for a week, dr said starve for 24 hours - was really hard but did the trick. Gave plenty of water and the odd rich tea biscuit. Dr also said if dd really wanting food to give mash potato

Plenty fluids & toast or boiled rice if child very hungry, always work for me with the dreaded runs!

for myself and the kids, i always make up a tea from fennel seeds, and mint leaves if i have it. no food other thn this tea in a bottle for a day or so. unless you are brestfeeding, in which case continue to breastfeed.
when kids were bit older, i had to add some sugar to it to get them to take it, but works wonders for us
