what symptoms would a damaged knee cap give you ?

I tore my cartilage which resulted in the knee swelling and hobbling with pain when putting my weight on it.

Gp said it was the tendons round my kneecap and would heal in about 18 months time..

It did improve over the next 3 years but then got worse and MRI scan confirmed my own diagnosis that it was a torn cartilage.

I had heard of many people with cartilage problems but not knee caps damage.

If you are in agony and can'walk only on crutches you need an MRI scan.
Good luck

It's swollen and painful to the touch right over the top of my knee cap - visibly swollen after two weeks still. I can put weight on it and bend it but even a stroke with my finger is agony. I tripped over some broken bricks and landed on the knee cap.
Thanks.
