Have the most horrible cold, have been sleeping for 2 days, but can't shift the fever, shivering and achey pains. Been taking cold and flu relief (paracetamol and decongestant) but only other medicine I have is aspirin. Can I take both? TIA

paracetamol and ibuprofen are commonly used together even in children alternating the doses

aspirin not used so much now (older people prefer it they don't like paracetamol as they confuse it with phenacetin which caused kidney damaged)

aspirin and paracetamol used to be used a lot together - different side effects

ps aspirin for fever etc shouldn't be taken on empty stomach or asthmatic or if under 18 or using the low dose for blood thinning

According to the above site, and the BMJ, it's quite safe. The MBJ even says to take asprin, paracetamol and caffine together for migraine so wash it all down with a coffee and see if it works!
Sorry you're feeling rubbish and get well soon x

Try drinking coke or lucozade and eating dry toast or biscuits just to get something into your tummy.
