I will be having a pre Xmas procedure! having a flexi sigmoidoscopy Tomorrow and have been told to take Picolax at 11am today and again at 5pm this afternoon

Trouble is, I have work until 1pm today, booked the afternoon off and tomorrow of course!

Is that enough time for it to work, and be safe to leave?

I've had this once before but had Dulcolax night before - so at least I could relax and til morning. This time I got given Picolax.

My sdigestion is sluggish at the best of times and laxatives when I take them tend to take longer to work or more to be effective..

Any experiences of how long it takes to start working?? I want to take it as soon as possible to get it started, the hospital said start by having the first sachet at 11.00 but still have two hours of work.. I'm guesing this will not work for more than 4 hours os so like other things.

The packet says as soon as 30 mins but no way something could work on me that fast surely??

Just wondering? any experiences??

I found that the first dose did nothing, the second took a while to work and then I was up all night losing it both ends at the same time. Rough as a dog.

should be fine. I took it at 5 in the evening (1 dose) and had the procedure the next morning without problems. but I also followed the no fibre and coloured foods diet for a couple of days before.
good luck!
