Piles...literally keeping me up all night...

Hi,

Sorry for the tmi. I've suffered with piles on and off since having my eldest child 6 years ago. By suffered it was pain that I experienced more than anything and harder to go to loo.

I've been to the doctors a few times over the 6 years and been given various creams/suppositories but have mainly just bought the usual anusol or germoloids. I'm also on lactulose so never have to strain etc.

About 3 weeks ago, I had a really bad attack. Struggled to sit down, walk lots etc and they were massive. But the main thing was the insane itching that I have never experienced before. Literally keeping me up for hours in the night. Creams and suppositories were doing nothing so went to drs.

He has referred me to hospital but that obviously won't be for a while. And he prescribed me a tube of Xyloproct. Over the week they have got smaller and itching really eased.

The cream finished yesterday and I've been up all night literally with crazy itching. They are quite swollen again too. I stupidly thought that cause they had shrunk, the itching would of gone too.

Sounds very dramatic but I literally can't carry on indefinitely like this. Any advice anyone? Please

I would go back to the doctor and get more stuff to keep you going. When mine were bad after birth I got suppositories called Sheriproct or something, they had the cortisone in them too.
You need to be able to sleep at night. So go back to doc, get the stuff and take paracetamol when it's bad as well, that'll also give some relief. Hope you get it sorted...

could you try an oral antihistamine for the itching, in the meantime?
