Laparoscopy

Hi guys I'm not a regular poster but think this is the best place to ask..
A week ago I had a Laparoscopy with endo removal from my ovary.
I've been signed off of work for 2 weeks at the minute but I'm worried about going back to work after the 2 weeks.
As a side effect(they think) from the surgery I have a swollen vein in the back of my leg which is causing me a lot of pain and I'm continuously worn out after just doing a few things in the day(a simple bath is tiring at the moment)
I work in a retail environment that will be constantly on my feet with no possibility of sitting until break plus lots of heavy lifting which I don't feel I'm going to be able to do.
I have an appointment booked to get my sick leave extended but am worried the gp won't believe me (it's not my regular gp I'm seeing)
I also suffer with severe anxiety and am due my first period after my lap this week which I've been told will probably make me feel washed out again!!
Any advice would be greatly ppreciatted x

I would be very surprised if they quibbled, especially if you mention the lifting- I wasn't supposed to lift for 6 weeks after my laparoscopic surgery.

Hope you feel better soon.Chocolate

Have you had the vein checked out? I'd be concerned about post surgical thrombosis.

NiceFalafels · 07/12/2016 20:36

I felt rough for a month after mine.

Thanks for the replys guys
Eurochick I spent the evening at a&e after working myself into a frenzy about it being dvt but they did a d-dimer test that was negative and said I was showing no other symptoms so they were not too concerned that it was dvt. They said likely a swollen vein, pinched nerve or bakers cyst.
Tbh my anxieties are probably making recovery harder as I'm picking up on every little thing!!

Hugoagogo I didn't have the greatest discharge from hospital and was told I should be fine to do most things within 2 weeks, but it's been 1 week and I get knackered from just having a bath and tidying up !! (Thanks for the well wishes ☺️)

nicefalafels I can totally see how it was a month, if I'm honest I thought I'd be full of life a few days after 😑

I felt worse after my laparoscope than I did after my emergency cesarean! I was signed off for 2 weeks, went back to work and it was way too early. Ended up in quite a state and got signed off for a further 6 weeks.
Take it easy. The docs will sign you off for longer just say you don't feel ready to go back

With mine I felt like absolute hell for 2 weeks but between week 2-3 I did improve quite quickly. Just take it as easy as you can Flowers

I've had five laps and always needed about 4 weeks off !
