Stomach ulcer

Hi all
I've had a horrible cold bug for a couple of weeks, so been taking quite a lot of paracetamol and ibuprofen. I have a very sensitive stomach and suffer with quite bad IBS.
Anyway, over the past few days my stomach, actual stomach, has felt like it's raw inside, a bit like burning or like it's been scratched??! My IBS has flared up too. I have had the sensation before, it comes and goes probs less than once a month.
Does it sound like it could be a stomach ulcer? Or a tummy bug? No vomiting but felt a bit nauseous with the pain.
Anyone experienced anything like this?
Thanks

Ames you describe the pain I had well when I was recovering from Gastritis (when the pain was unbearable and I couldn't eat), afterwards I needed Omazrepole and the nagging pain is gone within days. I take it now every few months if the pain flares up. I think you can buy it over the counter in the UK. I can here in Spain. You just have too much acid irritating the stomach lining I think.

Stop taking the ibuprofen and aee if it helps, it's known for irritating the stomach.

Yes I wondered about gastritis, and concerned that if it is, is it contagious??
I stopped the ibuprofen yesterday as I know it irritates the stomach.
Just feels really scratchy and not nice! Should I be seeing a doctor??

I'd let it settle down for a bit and see how it goes personally.

You may need to see the dr for some
Omeprazole
Gastritis is very painful
Mine was caused by ibuprofen too

Also, I didn't have that much ibuprofen and would it cause weird poos? Sorry TMI!! But it kind of feels inflamed down there as well!

I only need to take a tablet and I'm really ill, I just can't take any inflammatories at all.

Sounds like you have a stomach bug/mild gastritis TBH. I think you do need omazropole. It's fantastic quick acting stuff. I just buy it in the pharmacy when my stomach is feeling irritated.

Yes, irritation in the stomach can cause funny poo!

I'd pop to the docs I think!

Natsku · 06/12/2016 17:35

Could be ulcer, could be tummy bug, in either case omazrepole will help but I'd consider going to the doctor first because a diagnosis of a stomach ulcer is important as it could mean you not being allowed to take NSAIDs again so good to have it on record for future doctors to know when you need painkillers.

I totally don't want it to be a tummy bug!! I think it is IBS in my bowels and my stomach is inflamed.
I just don't want to pass it on to my little man, I am hugely scared of vomit so would hate to give him something!!
