Bloody sodding nappy rash AGAIN!

I am absolutly diligent about ds2's nappies. They are disposables, I change them every 3 hours and he doesn't wee much.

It seems to be recurrant thrush, and have been given canesten HC, which I use 3 times a day, and it's not shifting it. It clears up for 2 days, they he'll poo in his sleep or something, and it's back, red raw and bleeding, and it takes a week to clear up!

I have booked him an appointment at the doctors next week, but I wondered if any Mumsnetters had any advice?

Meant to say, if I know he is pooing I usually have him out of the nappt so fast he is sometimes still pooing!!

Colditz, wish I could offer you some, its that poo in the night that gets mine every time. I changed lo at 4am, nothing there, again at 7.30am and he's pooed and his little bum is bleeding.

Just a thought - which type type of disposables are you using, colditz? Two of my dc's used to get really bad nappy rash when I used Pampers. I used alternative brands at home to avoid this, but if the day nursery put on a pampers nappy by accident they would have really bad nappy rash again within an hour or two.

I have tried

Pampers
Huggies
Morrisons
Tesco

None have made any difference, the rash is all in th crease of his bum, and around his anus in a 2 inch radius.

I haven't noticed any dietry triggers but he doesn't have citrus yet.

My 7 month old has had similar bouts like that where she has bled (oozed like a graze).

Its usually when she is teething. Comes on suddenly/severely within hours. Takes about a week to clear.

I try to use as little as possible on her when cleaning and sudocreme seems to be the best cream. I tried metanium (?) but it stuck and we had to bathe it off, almost like the white sticky residue a plaster leaves.

I let her have a bare bum as much as possible when it gets this bad. I haven't really thought about it being something she eats, will consider that next time it happens

had exactly this problem last week. Used metanium during the day (it;s supposed to stick) and at night a layer of metanium covered by a thick coating of vasoline to act as a barrier. And as you say - change nappy with monotonous regularity if you can't leave him bare.

Did work but had to persevere for a fwe days.
