Provera for pmt

I suffer with bad pmt - emotionally out of control mainly, but I also have pelvic and leg pain.

I do not deal with progesterone well at all... I have tried all sorts over the last twenty years and its like having the worst pmt all of the time. Anyway, the doctor now wants me to try Provera (not the injection) which is a type of progesterone, but apparently better tolerated than most.

I keep putting off taking it, because I am scared of feeling so bad on it. I just wondered if anybody who has taken this before can tell me how they got on with it? And also, has anyone taken it for pmt, as it does not seem to be a standard usage for it?

Hi OP I also get bad pmt, I take magnesium bisglycate and agnus castus. So much less bitchness!! I'd try that before the hormonal stuff if you're not sure.

It's got to be that specific magnesium as it's better absorbed by the body.

Good luck I know how horrible it is. Mine worsened after having a child as well.

I'm on the depo injections just for PMT. No issues for me.

Thank you both. Will check out that magnesium.

My pmt is certainly getting worse, to the point when I fear that my relationship will not survive. Although I do wonder if I am starting perimenopause too.
