I seem tinge really struggling to hear conversations and even my kids recently, I'm 47.
Should I go to the GP or to Specsavers or somewhere else on the high street? I don't really know what to do but think I need to do something.

Go to the GP, you should be referred onto the Audiology department at hospital. Do not leave this, get this checked out as soon as possible.

Go to your GP. You will probably need an ENT referral due to your age and will get a hearing test at the appt and advice/treatment/hearing aid etc will be offered depending on test results.

Try not to panic too much either

Could just be wax

I AM deaf. Have been since I had meningitis at two. Despite having stable hearing for going on 15 years, I've just had a small decline.

You need to referred to ENT or an audiologist really but spec savers can do a hearing test to see how it is. From there I would then book an appoitment with the GP
