Hello

My DD is 21mths old and has Chicken Pox (since last thursday) The last 4 nights she has been sick 3 of the nights. Last night she was not sick & she didnt eat any dinner.
It seems when she eats dinner shes sick around 9 / 10 pm.

Is this normal for Chicken Pox?
Should i start to worry?
Was thinking of calling the drs tomorrow, but they would not see her last week because she had CP so dont think they will see her tomorrow.

Any advise welcome

Bump

BandofMothers · 15/02/2007 22:26

Call the drs!!
And don't remind them of the chicken pox.
Can't believe they wouldn't see her cos of it. You're not contagious when you have spots!!
Is she sick after other meals??

QueenEagle · 15/02/2007 22:28

TotalDream - not sure hwt to suggest about the being sick but I am quite sure it has nothing to do with CP.

BandofMothers - you ARE contagious with the spots, until the last one has crusted over!

QueenEagle · 15/02/2007 22:30

Oh and if you take your dd to the docs DO tell them aout the CP so they can keep her away from the waiting room ad thus possibly infecting the elderly or the already sick.

BandofMothers · 15/02/2007 22:32

Ok. Sorry. I was always told that you were only contagious until the spots appeared, and mine both had it about 4 mths ago!!

blondehelen · 15/02/2007 22:33

does she have a temperature? my ds only has to have a slight temp and vomits everywhere.

TotalDream · 15/02/2007 22:39

No shes only been sick at night but only if shs eaten dinner.

Last week i had the Nurse call me back so we could decide if it was CP or not

Shes been so good with the CP, not been itchy, not covered in spots - has lots but not totaly covered. Shes bunged up during the day and eats a good lunch, but will only pick at her dinner if she does eat any at all

I'll set the alarm and call the Dr 1st think to get a appt

Thank you bandofmothers

Oh so i should tell the drs then? ok i'll put that on the list for the call tomorrow. (you know what its like trying to remember things 1st thing lol) Thanks queeneagle

No she has not had a temp all week. Shes running around in teh day time, dancing to boogie beebies, tweenies etc, full of beans till dinner time

She's probably just feeling crap!!
If I'm poorly, I generally get worse as the day goes on. Chicken Pox can make them feel poorly too.
Hope she's ok!!

nulnulcat · 15/02/2007 22:47

dd aged 3 has chickn pox and has been throwing up every night with it, same as you she eats dinner then is sick she is now saying she doesnt want to eat coz it will make her sick.

havent got any advice i thought the chicken pox was making her sick

QueenEagle · 15/02/2007 22:49

You said she is bunged up during the day - maybe she has an excess of mucous sitting in her stomach from swallowing it which can cause kids to be a bit sicky imo.

Take her to the docs, just remember to inform them of the CP so they can keep her away from the waiting room when you go! It means you'll probably be seen quicker too!

TotalDream · 15/02/2007 22:57

nulnulcat - is DD sick hrs later or just after dinner? My DD is sick about 9 /10 pm.

OP posts:
TotalDream · 15/02/2007 23:03

queeneagle - so theres prob no way of avoiding it then if its a build up? Shes also really chesty at night, waking up coughing and nearly being sick again

OP posts:
BandofMothers · 15/02/2007 23:14

Could be that she's mucusy and that's causing the cough which is making her sick. My dd1 often coughs when a bit snotty, so much so she gags, or is sick.

QueenEagle · 15/02/2007 23:16

You could try raising the head-end of her bed up or sticking a pillow under the mattress to raise it up - helps mine when they have night coughs.

BandofMothers · 15/02/2007 23:26

Yes QE, mine too. Propping good. Also medised is good. Dries up mucus and snot in throat and nose, which helps with the cough, will also numb any discomfort, aches or pains of the CP.

TotalDream · 15/02/2007 23:29

queeneagle - Yeah i have a pillow at the head end, does seem to help a bit, DD doesn't really like it hehe

Thank you all for your advise Looks like im off to the drs in the morning

Im off to bed now, take care xx

nulnulcat - Mayb you should see the dr also? Hope your DD gets better soon

Night night

No probs. Hope she is ok.

Madoldcatlady · 16/02/2007 07:34

If they wont tolerate a pillow to raise them up, stick a couple of books under the bed at the head end!

nearlyfourbob · 16/02/2007 08:17

Can chicken pox be in a stomach? That would make you sick.

TotalDream · 16/02/2007 13:58

Well i've booked a appt at the drs, 6pm tonight. I have to keep her outside untill the dr calls me in.

When i spoke to the nurse this morning she said she could have it inside her!! That just sounds horrible.

Well i shall find out tonight

TotalDream · 16/02/2007 14:02
