Cervical Radiculopathy?

I have had ongoing issues with pain in neck/shoulder blade which has now progressed to radiating arm pain and numb fingers. GP thinks I have a damaged neck nerve, cervical radiculopathy so I was sent for a cervical spine (neck) x-ray which they say does show abnormalities. I've been referred straight back to the rheumatology department at the hospital for further investigation. GP not very forthcoming with any other info, vaguely mentioned an MRI and/or further tests but said GP's don't treat this sort of thing or have authority to request further imaging such as MRI so I have to be referred. I've booked the rheumatology appointment which is in January. I'm just not sure what to expect really. Has anyone experienced similar?

Hello,

I’ve had the same symptoms for about 3 weeks now...what happened with yours? I hope you’re better now?

I was diagnosed with cervical radiculopathy four weeks ago.. at first the pain was unbearable, and i was put on naproxen, codeine and amitryptline. I subsequently had physio and an MR scan, and found out it was caused by a prolapsed disc in my neck.

Four weeks on and I can barely feel any pain! My doc is confident it is resolving itself, although I've been advised to stay on the pain meds for now.

I have to say I thought in the beginning the pain would never end but it suddenly (over a period of a few days) faded and now I am almost back to normal, although fatigued from being in pain so long.

It truly was horrible but I'm hopeful i'm on the way out and it won't return (touches wood furiously)

Good luck hope yours goes away as fast as mine
