Constipation - help!!

I may name change after this out of sheer embarrassment...

Had a wisdom tooth out last week and due to huge amounts of swelling and pain I've not been able to drink much. I have been taking solphadine which of course has the dreaded codeine in it. And now, of course, I am really, really badly constipated. REALLY badly...tried a suppository and discovered that the poo has turned to concrete Sad

The lovely nurse practitioner has given me Movicol (4 sachets, see what happens) and an enema which has helpfully been dispensed without any kit and I cannot physically get back in the car and go back to ask for whatever I might need!

Will the Movical do the trick? And how long before it kicks in?! Should I eat? My lower back is killing me too Sad

what enema have you been given? they usually come with a nozzle to insert

I feel your pain. I've had to resort to manual evacuation in similar circumstances Blush

Thank- you for replying! You're right, it was a tiny tube with a nozzle. I'd assumed from the lightness of the box that it was a sachet to be made up Blush I was quite fraught at the time!

The movicol has had an effect, not as dramatic as I'd expected but I'm not in agony any more which is fantastic. I might take it again this morning to ensure there's no concrete lurking...

(I bought a huge box of gloves as I was convinced I'd have to do manual extraction Confused)

Unsupported apricots are good at getting movement, but have never had concrete problems.

I tend to buy unsupported apricots along with cocodime

MollyHuaCha · 01/12/2016 20:52

Unsulphured?
