Good creams for helping scars

Hi, had surgery on my face around 4 weeks ago which has left me with a scar the stitches have dissolved now but I'm wondering if I can help the scar fade by using cream? I thought about bio oil but not so sure if ok on the face! Any advice/ recommendations ? thank you :-)

you can get the capsules in health food stored, brake them open and massage the area gently with the oil 2x a day.
wear a high spf as uv light is not good for scarred skin at all.

At the follow-up appointment after my surgery, the consultant showed me how to massage my scar (to help prevent scar tissue). I think regular massage definitely helped with the appearance of my scar. I second the advice to wear high spf too, and that means proper suncream not moisturiser with spf. Good luck! I had facial surgery a couple of years ago, and my scar has faded so much.

Thank you I will try that, I'm hoping it'll fade in time, it's great to hear yours has. I've gone a high factor sun cream I am putting on at the moment I know it's winter but quite frightened to risk any sun! x

I signed up to a trial for a product called silgel and used it on my c section scar and it definitely reduced the scarring. They have a website, might be worth a look.

There is no hard evidence that any one cream has any effect on scars. That doesn't mean it definitely doesn't, just that nothing is proven. I've seen conflicting reports on vit e, so do some research if you want to use that. Recently I saw a consultant dermatologist for dd's (fairly minor, non-surgical but deep) facial scar. He said that although no one cream will make a long term difference, in his opinion moisturising the scar can only be a good thing and makes it more comfortable in the short term. I use bio oil, and he said this is fine. Her scar is fading nicely, although obviously I can't say if this is the bio oil or not!

Suncream is the most important thing, scar tissue just doesn't have the protection the rest of your skin has.

I should have said, no evidence on flat scars. But I think there are treatments to improve raised/hardened scars.
