He is mixed fed so I am wondering if this is the problem. He had an exploding poo on Sunday, nothing Monday, a little squiit one on Tuesday and nothing since. He obviously needs to go as he is fractious in the evening and it takes me ages to settle him. He normally does one a day.

Poor child, with me blabbing his pooing habits to all and sundry. With a six year gap I had forgotten how obsessed with poo mums of newborns are

um....it could be the mixed feeding, it could be something you are eating it could be something in the air

I think you should neck a big plate of lentils or those gorgeous white beans and give a feed four hours later.

Johnny says "Hi" btw. You can have him on Sunday

Is your baby feeding well, constipation can be caused by dehydration...I'd give baby some cooled boiled water at regular intervals.

Thanks ST yes he's feeding fine, if anything maybe too much. He's a greedy little blighter.

Try lying him on his back and bicycling his legs, or massage his tummy gently in clockwise circles.

The other thing that always helped dd was a warm bath - still does now and she's nearly 6!

try boiled water with a bit of prune juice - my HV advised it when my babe was constipted and it worked a treat

We used cool boiled water with half a teaspoon of glucose. she was pooing like a trooper after a v short time!
After that I gave dd water as part of her routine every day and it never happened again.
