Think my husband may be on the brink....of something...

He has started a new job and subsequently has been away on a training course.
He is finding the whole thing stressful and is having trouble sleeping in his hotel room.
He came home last night and appears to be suffering emotionally.

He can't sleep, he can't sit still, he feels claustrophobic in his own skin. Has funny eye twitching/wobbling sensations, his chest feels odd, his back aches and he thinks he is going mad.

He doesn't see the point in seeing a Dr, although I think he could be persuaded...However, he has a fear of mental illness and wouldn't be honest with the Dr anyway.

Does this sound familiar to anyone, what can I do?
Any tips for helping him to sleep?

Sounds like a sort of anxiety attack? If he won't see a doctor maybe get some of those herbal sleep tablets from the chemist - not sleeping properly won't help..... (but it's understandable he's not sleeping if his mind is racing with things all night....) Try to get him to do some relaxation techniques?

Most definitely stressed. He occassionally gets panic attacks and can calm himself down by doing the times tables...However, he says that it isn't working this time.

I am worried he is headed for a meltdown.

He is so completely self obsessed, I am desperate for him to put his mind to something else.

Panic attacks etc. My DH had these after job move and house move. He went to doctors who prescribed Seroxat but also offered cognitive therapy. The therapy seemed to work extremely well and I think were the cure rather than the tablets.
