Humira question

I've been an idiot and completely forgot to take my injection yesterday when it was due . I was told I could take it a day either side but last night I had a stomach bug . I feel much better now and no temperature and just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation ? Too late to phone the doctor but I also don't fancy the joint pain coming back . Gah!!

Call your doc for advice but should be ok. It's a long lasting injectable - it doesn't wear off instantly nor would the pain come back instantly. A relative is on it and was advised to skip a dose at the time of a minor op to aid healing - he had no problems or flare ups.

I had a stinking cold the other week and delayed my jab by 3 days. The following jab was done at normal time. Last week was late by one day as I forgot (first time ever). No ill effects.

Hi, I'm currently on Infliximab and may move onto Humira. Please could you tell me how you get on with it?

I had a good response with Infliximab but an even better one with Humira (Crohns). It has suited me really well and now Humira has had the stinging ingredient taking out it is totally pain free.

Molly what are you looking at using humira for? I had good response on it for crohn's but terrible response for my psoriasis

Crohns. But still on Infliximab every 8 weeks at the moment. But humira has been mentioned as my next port of call... feeling brilliantly well at the moment so I think Infliximab still working for me

If Infliximab is working for you then hope they keep you on it. I was only taken off it because I'd had to have emergency surgery whilst on it (so they deemed it 'failed') but I'd been having issues with bowel blockages that self-cleared for 4 years before even starting Infliximab. They kept me on it after I'd had the stoma but when that was reversed I had to change.

I have to say, Infliximab was so effective I actually had problems with constipation. Humira keeps me 'just right' - one normal poo a day approx. It's fab.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. How does it work with travelling on planes? I wouldn't trust my medication in my suitcase in case it gets lost. But you can't take sharps through airport security. Do you take humira by using normal syringes or do you get a special pen?

Not sure about planes (I need to, am on two flighted trips next year) but AbbieVie who make Humira produces guides to that sort of thing.

Although you need to keep Humira in the fridge, you can take it out and use it within 14 days as long as it isn't in a hot environment (I think 25deg is the limit).

I use the pen device for injecting and they are very simple. You get a small travel bag and a used sharp could go in there for the duration. As earlier, I need to check on rules on board but imagine they're the same as for diabetics. AbbieVie give you a card for your purse saying you're on Humira.
