Pulmonary embolisms

My dh was admitted to hospital on Tuesday with clots on both lungs. He was release yesterday with injections to take at home for the next few days and heperin tablets. About half an hour ago he coughed up some clotted blood, he is saying that it is nothing to worry about but I am freaked out. Has anyone any experience of this? Is it normal whilst being treated for PE?

Yes that's normal. The injections and tablets are to thin the blood and break down the clot so he may well cough some of it up.
