I've noticed this morning that he has a watery eye, its just one not both. Can I treat this, I'm thinking wiping with cooled boiled water, or does it need a doctor to look at it.

might be a blocked tear duct on that side (my DS has this, so it's my first thought). Is the eye just watery, or is there any yellowish goo? If the tears can't drain away on one side they can get infected. I'd get a dr's opinion, but if it is a blocked duct then wiping with clean cotton wool and cooled boiled water as needed & massaging the duct gently (the little whitish bump between nose and eye - ask the dr how!) both help. Some huge proportion (90%+) clear by themselves in the first year.

It's just clear bikeBug, like tears.
I've been on hold for my health visitor for 10 minutes. GRRR

agree with bikebug, sounds like a blocked tear duct - noticed the same plus yellowish goo with DS2 a few weeks ago so mentioned it to the doc at the 6 week check - said to keep clean, massage and gave me some antibiotic ointment. doc said the increased watering is due to the duct trying to clear itself - it's because the duct is so small. he also added that the ointment was not strickly speaking required as it was not an infection per se, but more a preventative measure.
