DS has a cold - really croupy type cough. Insisted on going to school yesterday as he was the leader for the day. Came home pale and slept for an hour. Temp was 38.4 - gave Nurofen. Brightened up considerably - enough to play with DH, play Playstation and eat a little dinner and watch TV.

He slept with me and in the night was hot again so I gave more Nurofen. Semi woke a few times not knowing where he was etc. Pretty scary as has never done this before. Still asleep now.

Supposed to be flying to Dublin tonight! Will take to doc today but I'm realistically not going to be flying tonight am I? Last night he was bright enough that he could have done.

my DS1 (5.5) had the same thing last week - high temperature - and a croupy type cough (he doesn't get croup but his younger brother does so I recognise the sound). The temperature responded to calpol etc. The whole thing lasted 3-4 days.

I would think he would be ok with the flight if you dose him up with calpol - assuming you are flying from the uk and so is a short journey.

Not sure the doctor will be able to give him anything - I assumed DS's version was a virus - there had been a lot with similar symptoms at school in the previous couple of weeks.

Phoned the paediatrician. Usual advice of fluids etc. She recommended not flying tonight. We are in Budapest so 2.5 hours flight. Have changed flights to Friday instead. Off to cuddle the patient. He is SO miserable poor love.

hope he gets better soon. I just realised from your username that you are not in the UK (sorry - don't think I even noticed your name when I posted before ).

That's OK throkenholt! I wouldn't expect you to!

well actually I have picked up from previous threads that you are in Budapest - but I don't think I even read who posted the thread - just answered the question (since my DS had something similar a few days ago).

Anyway - I hope he gets better soon and you all enjoy your visit to the Emerald Isle.
