Hand hold please - cervical abnormalities

Just that - vaginal discomfort, bleeding, discharge led to a GP visit this morning. They examined me, found cervical 'abnormalities' and 3 hours later I was texted an appointment at the hospital for a colposcopy next Tuesday.
What's making me worry is how fast they have fitted me in for an appointment.
Words of wisdom anyone? Don't want to worry anyone in RL.

Have a look at the Jo's Trust forum. Lots of people there in the same boat. Sometimes it's just abnormality, sometimes it's more. Such a hard time for you, the waiting is the worst. Do not Google - it will not be your friend.

Are you up to date with your smear tests? I'm not a doctor, but my understanding is that if you have been attending your cervical screening appointments, and they were all normal, the likelihood is that your abnormalities are early changes which can be treated and monitored. Cervical cancer itself is quite slow-growing usually and the pre-cancerous stages would generally be picked up during routine cervical screening before the cancer itself developed.

I hope this helps a little bit (& that a gynaecology specialist will be along shortly with some advice).

About 3 years ago I had my cervix cauterised as it looked dodgy.
But the doc has not followed up with any smears since then. So my last smear/check was 4 years ago. I am 51 years old.
The referral is based on a visual check, not a smear.

Sorry cauterisation was 4 years ago. Almost to the day.

I had a condition called cervicitis it caused bleeding and discomfort after sex. Had cauterization twice. It always came back but it wasn't a precancerous condition. Eventually had a hysterectomy for a large fibroid doc said the cervicitis was 3+ and sounded surprised. I wasn't cause it caused discomfort.

My symptoms match all of those for cervicitis - so I will think about that for the next 4 days. It does not look pleasant, but a better option than C.

I think the quick referral is standard practice for possible cancer (it has to be within two weeks). However, 90% of these patients turn out not to have cancer so the odds are on your side! Focus on the cervicitis, or cervical ectropion - that is another possible cause.

How did your appointment go? I hope everything was fine.

I have been given the all clear...!!!! Not sure what is actually wrong - another appointment in a few weeks to find that out - but it was not the big C.

@Timeforteaplease what rest did y hsve done ? Currently something similar but sending me for Vaginal scan ultrasound instead
