(I've name changed because I'm embarrassed. I haven't told anyone yet except my doctor.)
I have lots of complex health problems due to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). To add insult to injury, my bowel has now prolapsed. :( I'm in my twenties and not yet had children. For those who don't know, EDS means your collagen is faulty. I explain it as my insides being all stretchy, as well as my joints.
My bowel is chronically impacted and it doesn't respond to usual treatments. I've probably caused this by straining in an effort to have a bowel movement more than once a month.
So, my GP saying that all I need to do is resolved the constipation and the minor prolapse with resolves itself. However, it's part of my EDS. I cannot just resolve this problem, neither can my gastroenterologist. I'm not due to see him for another few months. In the mean time, I'm feeling miserable as sin.
Any tips that aren't 'magically solve your chronic condition' please? My gastroenterologist is specialist in an upper GI conditions, so I wonder if I need to see a different type of specialist. Would that be a colorectal doctor? Anything would be much appreciated, thank you.
