Please?

DS has a terrible cough, worse than any he's had before.

He has just gone for a nap dosed with medised & tixylix and within 30 mins he is hacking away and sounds like he's abuot to throw up..he was like this all last night, he is exhausted.

Any recommendations..anyone?

Wet towel on the radiator works for my DS - he has cough at the mo and is throwing up when he really gets going - it has been going on for ages - we give hm Tixylix coughand cold too - that seems to work the best with him.

I second the wet towel on radiator. Ds1 has had that cough for about 3 weeks now. He's been sick about 5 times in the night just because of the coughing.

I would also recommend putting a soft towel on top of his sheet in his cot/bed. As soon as he is sick you can nip in, lift him up and take away the sicky towel without having to change his bedsheets and disturbing him too much. I also have spare pyjamas and a grobag ready as well as a few towels for him to be sick into to save the carpet!

Hope he gets better soon.

Raising the head end of the cot/bed helps lessen coughing

Thanks for the ideas..

I usually find the tixylix works OK but this time it's not really touching it.

I can't realy do the wet towel thing because his curtains come over his radiator but could put a bowl of water in his room - will try that shortly.

He hasn;t actually been sick but when he woke up from his nap it was like a sort of spasm,, he couldn;t clear the catarhh.
