glad the scans are clear. Hope they can sort his pain out.

singersgirl · 12/02/2007 20:49

Glad that things seem to be improving and good luck for the CAT scan tomorrow.

misdee · 12/02/2007 20:50

THEY HAVENT CONFIRMED WHAT HAPPENED YET, BUT IT IS LOOKING LIKE A TIA NOW.

OP posts:
brandy7 · 12/02/2007 21:14

does that mean he recovers misdee, is it like a warning to a full blown stroke, hope not. hope you ok, you are wonderful the way you just cope and carry on. hope you and the girls have an enjoyable morning tomorow

LIZS · 12/02/2007 21:25

Relieved for you that it is not as serious as you'd feared and hope he recovers soon. Sorry to sound ignorant but what is a tia ?

NorksBrideOHara · 12/02/2007 22:17

Glad the infection is under control. Is there anything to be done to prevent another stroke happening?

Hope you have a good day with the girls on Wed.

LIZS - A transient ischemic attack is a
"mini-stroke" caused by temporary disturbance of blood supply to an area of the brain.

AitchTwoOh · 12/02/2007 22:18

you are in my thoughts and prayers... glad to hear that it might not be as bad as was feared.

misdee · 12/02/2007 22:23

hopefully he wil lrecover fully (though they said that last time and his sight still hasnt recovered fully).

The mini-strokes are occuring because of the LVAD, so hopefully once he is post-transplant this wont happen again. occasionally small amounts clot onto the inside of the bladder of the LVAD, these can break free and cause what happened yesterday, or any other things similar to a stroke(numbness, drooping of face muscles, confusion, etc etc). Unfortunatly this also means that a big stroke could also occur. i am very releived that he seems well today and no hint of confusion, but I am so scared that next time he wont be so lucky. he has had a lot of problems lately, and the sooner transplant happens the better.

Goodness me! Only just seen this thread.
Can't add anything more to what has already been said except for praying that you find the strength to cope and my admiration for how you are already handling all this.
Please remember to look after yourself too when you can. xx

So sorry, Misdee. You sound incredibly strong. We think of you often.

fuchsia0703 · 13/02/2007 15:46

Misdee - you seem to cope so well but I can't begin to imagine how hard it is. Sending you lots of positive vibes.

misdee · 13/02/2007 16:19

thank you all.

tbh i dont know fi what i am doiung is that amazing, as its become second nature now IYSWIM. Peter being in hospital is normal, it would be easier if it wasnt hal;f term though, no denying that.

He has had a CT scan this morning before i got there, docs are waiting on those results, but everything still pointing towards a TIA/mini stroke. They will hopefully be starting him back on aspirin soon, it was stopped it sept when he started pouring blood from his LVAD site, but should've been restarted as the machine can cause clots.

We should know in the next few days abgout his suspension from the transplant list, and roughly how long he will be off it.

OP posts:
JanH · 13/02/2007 17:49

I think it's the way it has become second nature that is so amazing, misdee - you just get on with it without complaint (well, apart from the occasional "fucking shitty wank bollocks" )

Have they sorted out the infection around the LVAD site now? Has the pain stopped? Hope he is feeling much better and will be back on the list soon

3LoveHeartsAndNoMore · 13/02/2007 20:32

misdee, what Jan said...

Leoladyofleisure · 14/02/2007 08:18

Misdee, I have completely lost touch with you recently as I don't venture out far on MN at the moment. I am so sorry that things are still so tough with Peter ! It seems to be one hell of a long wait you have had for his transplant. I hope the next few days brings good news for you.

Don't forget to drop in and see us on the March 2005 thread on dd3's birthday!

tigermoth · 14/02/2007 08:51

misdee, I am so sorry life is throwing all this at you and Peter. You are having to be so strong. I hope some really good things happen to you soon. You have waited long enough.
