I had never had my eyes tested until last week and have been told i needed glasses. Was given a prescription. Chose my glasses and collected them today. When I wear them I feel dizzy and sick. Is this normal? Hmm

Yes it's normal until you get used to them-doesn't take long.

IcedVanillaLatte · 22/10/2016 17:31

Normal, but go back if you're still having trouble in a week or two.

And don't look down while you're going downstairs.

GizmoFrisby · 22/10/2016 17:31

Should I keep them on then or just keep them on for short periods until I feel normal?

What are they for? Are they just for reading or all the time? If all the time, just keep them on all the time.

What did the optometrist say?

ftmsoon · 22/10/2016 17:33

Yes, I've worn glasses for 24 years now and it takes a little while for your brain to realise it can see better now without compensating. I still get it a bit when I get new glasses, but it wears off much quicker. The important thing is to be able to see better. I'd give till Monday at least before worrying the prescription is wrong.

GizmoFrisby · 22/10/2016 17:35

He said I need to wear them for watching tv/driving/and day to day wear as I'm constantly squinting and a bit blurry. When I collected them she never mentioned any of this dizzy feeling so when I put them on I could see loads better but felt ill.

I'd try to keep them on as much as possible.

Ok thanks for the advice Smile
