I have had a really bad cold for weeks now. I have been deaf in one ear for the whole time and been bunged up all over my head. For most of the time I have had and nasty chesty cough that has been awful and have lost my voice for a few days, however, now the cough has changed to a tickly one and I am worse than ever.

I need help to stop this or at least soothe it asap, I am coughing in fits that can last for 3-5mins have 5mins break and then start again, it's waking me in the night and just now I have been sick in the sink because I have coughed so violently.

It's a dry cough that starts with a tickle, please someone anyone tell me how to soothe it.

hello

sorry to hear you're poorly. I've had two chest infections in a row this winter and feel like i've been ill forever.

But am finally coming out of the lastest one, which was a really annoying tickly cough. I've been taking those mega vitamin C fizzy tablet things for the last week and I think it's really made a difference - I've managed to pull myself out of this virus much more quickly than the last (ended up with bronchitis on antibiotics - hoorah). Also try putting some fresh ginger into boiling water and drinking it. It's a great antiseptic and very soothing for your throat.

Sorry, nothing really groundbreaking!

a friend of mine who sings for a living recommends, powdered vit c and echinacha (SP) in the same glass, one tea spoon of vit c to 10-15 drops of the echinacha (SP) twice a day.

Thanks for those tips I will deffinately be trying them.

I will be off down the Drs on Monday to check my ear out, I know there is not much he can do about the cold side of things but I hope he can sort out my hearing it's driving me nuts.

Have you tried buttercup syrup, it tastes foul and doesn't contain buttercups, but it did shift my cough which I had had for well over two weeks.....
