What is a posterior/anterior repair?

My friend overseas emailed to say she had this op back in january, will be off work for 8 weeks, can't lift anything, can't drive etc etc. She is in her 60's.

I don't want to email back and ask (!) but when I googled it it comes up as a cardio op but could it also be a "downstairs department" op? I don't want to particularly discuss her ladygarden but equally I would like to say the "right" things re her op if it was her heart.

Anyone?

Could be to do with the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments in the knee

However have just googled it myself and see that it could well be to do with vaginal wall repair, so not sure on this one kbear!

it is a vaginal wall repair. For prolapse of the vaginal muscles.

ta - I think I will be cryptic in my reply and hope she doesn't think I'm being weird!

Why don't you just ask or say you're not sure what it is!

Kbear · 08/02/2007 17:59

Thought she might not want to go into details if it's personal that's all! I don't really want to say "how's the old ticker" if in fact it's her nether regions that have been repaired!

It's a repair to the vaginal wall after prolapse. It's a pretty common (esp. in post-menopausal women) and straightforward procedure but it does restrict activity for a while. I'm doing a gynae placement atm so am seeing a lot of these right now

There you go!

Fair one kbear! Looks like you have you answer now anyway, sorry I wasn't more help!
