I have had something which has made me really ill and no one knows what it is!

I was rushed into hospital with a temp of 39.1, chest and back pain on intake of breath, headache, neck ache, nausea and I quickly became photosensitive (yes I know...all sounds like viral meningitis). Kept feeling very hot, sweating buckets but having a low temp of around 35.5 - 36. They did a CT - all clear, they did a lumber puncture and had a pressure of 23.6 (elevated but not enough to be classed as elevated), the fluid was clear, and that also came back clear. I was let home on Saturday after they said whatever it was I was out of the danger zone but I'm still feeling really yucky.

Any interesting ideas as to what it could be?

Raised CRP (50?) but everything else was clear.

Did you have a cheat X-ray? Was your pulse normal? (Thinking PE or chest infection/pleurisy)

oolaroola · 11/10/2016 20:02

I had something like this 18 months ago....chest pain, neck pain, temperature, headache, photosensitive, tachyacardic, palpitations, felt like crap....
They didn't do a lumbar puncture but my CRP came back at 415!! Kept in overnight and then left because it was sooo awful in hospital. I promised to come to outpateints and they kept doing repeat blood tests. I was ill for 6 weeks! CRP eventually came back to normal and finally got a letter saying that I'd had a virus to which I was now immune.
Sympathy to you OP, it's awful feeling so ill. Hope you get better soon.

Chest x ray was clear. Had pulse of 135 when the paramedics arrived, slowed to 110 after IV fluids and then bobbed around 100.

And how are you now?

lougle · 12/10/2016 20:41

I'm surprised they didn't sepsis algorithm. Did they do a blood gas? Did you have antibiotics?

GreenGoth89 · 12/10/2016 23:09

Still have permanent headache, neckache, not much of an appetite, light sensitivity and tiredness.

Lougle. They probably did, and if they didn't they used their medical knowledge/experience to assess and decide she didn't need one...
