how do i get eye drops into my nearly 3 year old?

any tips?

we had to restrain her earlier which was very stressful for all of us. it's conjunctivitus so she needs the drops.

try to do them when she is asleep

have you got someone else who can be the restrainer while you are the dropper-inner?
No 3 year old is going to sit nice and still for you so just go for it and have a choc button at the end ats a reward for being brave (that's for the child obviously not the grown ups!!)

I had this about a month ago, absolute bloody nightmare. I used to let ds put drops in me first so we had turns and he could see it didnt actually kill me!!!!(nothing came out of the dropper but I didnt really care tbh) bribed him with chocolate and resorted to pinning him down on the worst occassions. You have my sympathy.

Thanks. We tried tonight with her eyes closed so that it would run in when she opened them but we still had a big fight. I have suggested to DH he tries tonight when she is asleep.

Definitely chocolate bribery. Even as an adult eye drops are not the best thing to happen, so chocolate bribery works for me.

And be sure its gel eye drops not liquid ones. Much easier to take aim with. Gently lower the lower lid and squeeze in a little gel. It makes you have blurry eyes for ages and sometimes you can even taste them. Best done at bedtime (yes, even with chocolate, dentists look away).
