Earring stuck - help please

I got new earrings from an antique shop today, a gift from DH. I tried to put one in, but it would only go part the way in. I tried to take it back out, and it won't move. I've tried ice and baby oil, it won't move in either direction and it's getting sore. Any ideas?

The earring post is a strange shape with sort of a tiny hook on the end which must be what is stuck. Photos below.

a & e unless youre not squeamish and just yank it out. The post is too short for your ear. Get them rewired and you'll be able to wear them.

Thank you. I just took a deep breathe, squeezed my ear lobe tight and yanked Confused it is now out and I'm terrified to wear them again. I think the post is too wide? It wasn't too short, there was loads poking out the front. Can I get it made thinner?!

Imho it looks too wide and too short. Joy of joys! You can get new posts put on, there's no way to make them thinner.

I'd maybe switch from the clippy earring back to a regular post with a large sturdy back. Should be about £10-12.
